Port of Spain, July 20, 2026 – Global Trinidad and Tobago (GlobalTT) is proud to announce a new collaboration with the 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) and the Curaçao Film Commission, creating an exciting international opportunity for local filmmakers to showcase their talent on a global stage.
Through the efforts of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Commissioner, Leslie Ann Wills-Caton, local filmmakers will now have access to the world’s largest and longest-running short film competition, the 48 Hour Film Project. The initiative strengthens regional and international industry connections while creating new pathways for Trinidad and Tobago’s film professionals to gain experience, build networks, and compete alongside filmmakers from around the world.
The collaboration follows the appointment of creative entrepreneur Seth Nurse as the official City Producer for Trinidad and Tobago. In this role, Nurse will work alongside the Film Commissioner and the 48 Hour Film Project team to coordinate the local competition and support participating filmmakers throughout the programme.
The 48 Hour Film Project challenges teams to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a short film within a single weekend. Since its inception, the competition has engaged filmmakers in hundreds of cities worldwide and has become a launchpad for emerging talent.
Participating teams from Trinidad and Tobago will have the opportunity to screen their films locally and advance to Filmapalooza, the international festival and competition associated with the 48 Hour Film Project. The 2027 edition of Filmapalooza will be hosted in Curaçao, providing a unique opportunity for Caribbean filmmakers to engage with global industry professionals closer to home. Top films selected through Filmapalooza may also be considered for screening at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner.

Filmmakers seeking collaborators or complete teams can participate in a free networking session designed to connect writers, directors, producers, actors, and crew members.
48HFP Film Lab – August 22, 2026
Participants will receive an overview of competition rules, practical guidance, and hands-on exercises to help prepare for a successful 48 Hour Film Project experience.
