Port of Spain, October 8, 2026 – Global Trinidad & Tobago (GlobalTT), in partnership with Trinidad & Tobago Restaurant Week (TTRW), is celebrating the successful first edition of The Fashion Plate, a unique collaboration that brought the creativity of Trinidad and Tobago’s fashion industry into some of the country’s dining spaces.
Launched on September 29 at Rhythms “N” Brews in Gulf City, The Fashion Plate has since taken audiences on a journey through a series of Fashion Show Capsules hosted at participating restaurants across Trinidad and Tobago. The initiative has received positive feedback from patrons, designers, and participating businesses, demonstrating the appeal and potential of bringing fashion and culinary experiences together.
The opening showcase at Rhythms “N” Brews featured local designers RackPDH and SMWarner artwithattitude, setting the tone for a week of fashion, food and creative experiences. Subsequent showcases continued the concept, including a Fashion Show Capsule at House of Jaipur, which featured designs from Lisa Faye Silks and House of Jaipur, alongside accessories from Metah Designs and Ellimac Trinidad.
The Fashion Plate forms part of GlobalTT’s continued efforts to create new opportunities for the local fashion industry by connecting designers with new audiences, commercial platforms and potential markets. By taking fashion beyond the traditional runway and placing it within restaurants and other social spaces, the initiative created opportunities for patrons to discover and engage with local designers in an environment that was both accessible and experiential.
“The response to The Fashion Plate has been incredibly encouraging. We wanted to create something that would allow people to experience fashion differently, while also creating opportunities for our designers and businesses to benefit from each other,” said Lisa Marie Daniel, General Manager, Fashion, GlobalTT. “Fashion and food are both powerful expressions of our culture, creativity and identity. Bringing them together has shown us what is possible when our creative industries collaborate and create new experiences for audiences.”
Participating venues included Hyatt Regency Trinidad, House of Jaipur, The Alley, Samurai Restaurant and Kazza Pot and Kettle in Trinidad, as well as La Fountain and Sugarbird Terrace in Tobago. The initiative featured a diverse cross-section of local fashion designers and brands, including Photosynthesis Designs, Sukha Jewellery, Nedra Waldron, Shaun Griffith Perez, Kootis, Os2 Designs, Valrea’s Designs, Kimo, Bene Caribe, Ade, Andrew John Smith, Donna La Roche, Lisa Faye Silks, Metah Jewellery, Ellimac, Richard Noel, LOUD by Afiya and Nadroj.
With the Fashion Show Capsules now completed, attention turns to the Grand Finale of The Fashion Plate, taking place at Hyatt Regency Trinidad on October 9 at 8 p.m. The Grand Finale will bring together local designers with food and fashion enthusiasts for a special showcase celebrating the collaboration’s success. The event will provide a larger platform for local fashion while highlighting the possibilities that emerge when the fashion, hospitality and culinary sectors work together.
For GlobalTT, the success of The Fashion Plate underscores the value of cross-industry collaboration in strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s creative economy. The initiative has provided designers with opportunities to increase visibility, engage directly with consumers, and explore new commercial environments, while participating restaurants have gained the opportunity to incorporate local creativity into the dining experience. GlobalTT also had the support of key sponsors to make The Fashion Plate happen: Brian Matthew of Interface PR, Natifa Alexander of Caribe Fashion Specialist, Tricia Beckles, Manager of the Strategic Business Development Unit at the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and Richard Young.
“Our partnership with GlobalTT added an extra touch of flair to TTRW 2026, making the entire experience even more memorable,” said Shira Mohammed, Founder of Trinidad & Tobago Restaurant Week. “The Fashion Plate created a wonderful opportunity to bring two vibrant parts of our culture together and give audiences something new to experience.”
As the initiative reaches its finale, The Fashion Plate has demonstrated that collaboration between the creative and commercial sectors can create meaningful opportunities for local talent while encouraging greater appreciation and support for locally produced fashion.
The Grand Finale takes place on October 9 at 8 p.m. at Hyatt Regency Trinidad, bringing The Fashion Plate to a celebratory close and highlighting the creativity, talent and entrepreneurial potential of Trinidad and Tobago’s fashion industry.
